Victor Suva-Viola Mangona (by Kate)

Victor is a first generation Filipino American (who speaks and understands some Tagalog) born, December 16, 1980, and raised in Detroit, Michigan (alongside his older brother, Jerry) by his loving parents Susan (born Susana Suva-Viola of Cabanatuan City, Philippines, 2nd of 4, retired nurse, interior designer, and hostess with all the mostest) and Fred (born Wilfrido Mangona of Manila, Philippines, 2nd of 3, accountant, and karaoke machine!). Oh, they're also a super amazing dancing couple (you'll see at the wedding)!!

Victor has lived most of his life in Detroit, Michigan except his four years of undergrad at Duke and two years teaching high school science and math (at West Nottingham Academy in Maryland then Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania). In 2005, he moved back home where he attended medical school at Wayne State University in Detroit.

A day spent with Victor is quite like a trip to an art museum- a bit overwhelming at first glance, but if you spend a bit of time, extremely tasteful, gratifying, and overall educational.  He can teach you more than you ever wanted to know about Tigers baseball, photography, and eBay, and everything you really did not want to know about lung cancer and physics ;). If you did not know Victor before, you most certainly will now, and perhaps, might even bump into him at the ballpark, playing his violin with the Detroit Medical Orchestra, or any local FedEx location.

As the first physician in his family, Mango MD will finish residency in June 2014 and begin studying for part II of the Radiation Oncology boards soon after he and Kate return from their honeymoon. He is stoked to live and work in the same amazing city of Houston with Kate for his 1-year pediatric/proton radiation oncology fellowship at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
